Welcome to Waikaretu School,

We are very proud of Waikaretu School and the children who make it a great place to be. I am Bernie Denton-van Loon, the Teaching Principal of Waikaretu School. It is a privilege to be a part of the wider Waikaretu School community.

We are committed to providing a safe and engaging learning space for our students. Our inclusive curriculum at Waikaretu School works to empower our learners to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to become resilient, critical thinkers who actively achieve their goals in a connected world. Our Vision 'Continuously Thrive and Learn' permeates through all aspects of our daily learning journey. We have developed a local curriculum framework informed by our community. Our local curriculum connects place, learning and culture.

The values of Respect/Whakaute, Bravery/Aumangea, Kindness/Atawhai and Connectedness/Kotahitanga are the cornerstones of our school philosophy. The Waikaretu Way reinforces these values in the daily actions of students and staff. Our Waikaretu School Principles underpin our work.
