Where We Are

Waikaretu School is situated in an idyllic rural area one hour from Hamilton or Auckland. The school forms the focus for the wider community. The school is set in attractive grounds with impressive country views.

We recommend you take one of the following routes. 

 

Directions from Hamilton

  •  Take State Highway 1 to Rangiriri. 

  • Turn left over the Waikato River, then right into the Glen Murray-Rangiriri Rd.   

  • At its end, turn left, and drive another seven kilometres to the Telecom tower where you take the right-hand fork into Waikaretu Valley Rd.  

  • Follow this road for 15 kilometres to Waikaretu School on the left.

   

Directions from Huntly

  •  Head northwest on Great South Rd toward Main St

  • Turn left onto Main St

  • At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Tumate Mahuta Drive

  • At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Tainui Bridge Rd

  • At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit ontoHarris St

  • Continue onto Hetherington Rd

  • Slight right to stay on Hetherington Rd

  • Turn right onto Highway 22

  • Turn left onto Waikaretu Valley Rd

 

 Directions from Auckland

  • Take the Southern Motorway to Mercer. 

  • Cross the Waikato River into Mercer Ferry Road, and follow signs to Pukekawa and Golf Club. 

  • Drive through Pukekawa and on to Glen Murray.  

  • About 6 kilometres past Glen Murray Motors is a Telecom tower where you take the right hand fork into Waikaretu Valley Rd. 

  • Follow this road for 15 kilometres until you come to Waikaretu School, on the left.
